The dm Design Story

dmDesign started in 2005 when we realized a need to develop an outlet for young, motivated, student and recent graduate designers and developers, to further perfect and manifest a portfolio in order to gain new clients and/or long term employment after graduation. Understanding that classwork completed during coursework and basic internships would never be enough to land that first dream job, we put our skills to use helping small to medium sized businesses grow. In order to supplement the work done in class, we began to find clients through business networking events in Boston, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island that would allow our team to build a portfolio ready to show to clients and employers upon graduation.

Something incredible began to happen:

  1. The clients loved our enthusiasm in initial meetings.
  2. The clients were motivated and enthused by our understanding of the long-term direction and abilities to supplement print material by developing an online presence for their company.
  3. They absolutely loved working with our energetic, motivated team, as we were always willing to go the extra step to ensure the end product would bring about monetary results, while having a blast working with us!

Now, many years later, what started as a college dorm room dream has grown to help our initial team gain the experience needed to land jobs in our fields of study.

Founder Dave DeBlasio is now working full-time as a graphic artist with Whole Foods Market (WFM). Dave also works as Marketing Manager/Online Business Consultant for a family-owned and operated metals reclaiming company (PMRS). As marketing manager for PMRS, Dave manages a successful national Google AdWords marketing campaign, handles all website and print collateral marketing materials, manages and maintains PMRS search engine optimization keywords strategy, maintains the PMRS social media presence and consults PMRS regarding future and current technologies and marketing possibilities available.
